At its January Ordinary Meeting, Bellingen Shire Council resolved to proceed with the proposed name change of the main hall within the Urunga Senior Citizens Centre. The proposed change will rename the main hall to Urunga School of Arts Hall, reflecting the site's historical legacy and cultural significance. The smaller room will retain its current name, Senior Citizens Centre.
Submissions for feedback are now open until 5:00 PM, Friday 6 March. Council values input from the community to ensure this change reflects local heritage and meets public expectations.
