Project Scope

The Dorrigo community recognises the library as a focal point for people of all ages and all abilities. The new layout will enhance accessibility and feature additional spaces for increased numbers to attend activities, read, conduct workshops, and host community events.

The key elements of the works include:

• An extension towards the west aspect of the building allowing for more internal space
• New ambulant and accessible toilets
• The addition of quiet study nocks
• Space for a designated Youth Area and Local Studies section
• A larger meeting room with afterhours access and supportive technology
• An accessible pathway that meets current Australian standards
• New shelving, office furniture, carpets and up to date IT Infrastructure 

The work will include new shelving on castors to provide flexible spacing, flooring, painting, public access PCs and furniture.

The Library project was successful under the NSW Government’s Public Library Infrastructure Grants Program 2020/21

Community Impacts

Dorrigo Library is currently closed while renovation are underway, A temporary Library has been set up at Hickory House, 50 Hickory Street, Dorrigo.
