Bellingen Shire Council is excited to announce the next ShireSpeaks session, set to take place on Monday, 8 July 2024 at Maam Gaduying in Bellingen. This initiative continues to provide an informal platform for community members to engage directly with their local elected representatives and the Council's senior leadership team.

Mayor Steve Allan expressed the importance of these sessions, stating, “We know addressing a Council meeting is not for everyone and the formalities can be intimidating. These ShireSpeaks sessions are designed to give you access to your elected Councillors and the senior leadership at Council, allowing for casual conversations about the things you would like to know more about or issues that affect the community. They are a great way to meet face-to-face and to ensure we understand the views of the community.”

Following the success of the Urunga ShireSpeaks, a subsequent session was held in Dorrigo in March, allowing Councillors and staff to hear and address concerns from residents on the Plateau. Now, it’s Bellingen's turn:

Event Details:

Date: Monday, 8 July 2024

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Maam Gaduying (Meeting Place) – Outside the Bellingen Library

All Bellingen Shire residents are invited to participate in this series of planned listening posts designed to encourage open and transparent dialogue between the community, Councillors, and staff. As part of our commitment to inclusive community consultation, these sessions provide an informal and relaxed platform for you to connect with us, share your ideas, and discuss local projects. Feel free to drop in at any time during the event to exchange information, discuss improvements for the Shire, share ideas about current and future services, or simply connect with the Council. There's no need to RSVP; just come down and join the conversation.

Mayor Allan added, "I warmly invite all Bellingen Shire residents to attend the upcoming ShireSpeaks session. This is a valuable opportunity for us to hear directly from you, understand your concerns, and work together to build a connected, sustainable and creative Shire. Your feedback is essential in shaping the future direction, and I look forward to meeting and hearing from as many of you as possible."
