Councillor Ellie Tree re-elected as Deputy Mayor

Bellingen Shire Council has re-elected Cr. Ellie Tree as its Deputy Mayor for the period of October 2024 to September 2028, in a motion resolved in today’s October Ordinary Meeting of Council.
Councillors voted unanimously for the re-election of Cr. Tree as Deputy Mayor, who previously served in the position from September 2023 to September 2024.
Cr. Tree is a dedicated mother of three, university graduate, active community volunteer and passionate youth Community Impact Strategist at ShoreTrack, a local youth diversionary organisation. Cr. Tree brings a broad range of skills to the position of Deputy Mayor, including her passion for amplifying youth voices and fostering greater inclusivity in decision-making, ultimately contributing to a more engaged and vibrant community.
Bellingen Shire Mayor, Cr Steve Allan, congratulated Cr Tree on her re-election as Deputy Mayor: "I’d like to extend my sincere congratulations to Ellie on her re-election as Deputy Mayor,” he said.
“Last term marked a historic milestone, with Ellie becoming the youngest Deputy Mayor in our Shire's history, and she certainly excelled in the role with passion and dedication.
“During her time in the position, Ellie provided outstanding support and advocacy for our community. Her re-election ensures we will continue to benefit from her strong leadership, bringing stability and quality to this vital role.
“With Ellie’s unwavering commitment to our Shire, I am confident that she will continue to serve our community in the role of Deputy Mayor with the same level of dedication in the term ahead."
Cr. Tree said she was excited to continue serving the community in the role of Deputy Mayor: "I am thrilled to be re-elected as Deputy Mayor of Bellingen Shire.
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me and eager to continue working alongside the Mayor and my fellow Councillors and the community to build on the positive momentum we achieved during last term.
