Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) now available from Council
Published on 13 August 2024
Bellingen Shire residents are now able to obtain a Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) from Council, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for access to essential amenities in our public spaces.
The MLAK system provides a universal key that can unlock accessible toilets, playgrounds, and other facilities fitted with MLAK locks nationwide.
The application form for a MLAK is now available through the Bellingen Shire Council website or by visiting Council’s Customer Service Centre in Bellingen.
Previously, residents wishing to obtain a MLAK would need to travel to Coffs Harbour to complete the form, with the new process making it more accessible and user-friendly.
By implementing this application form, Bellingen Shire Council strives to ensure that individuals living with disability have reliable access to essential amenities in public spaces.
"We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can participate fully in community life," said Mark Griffioen, Bellingen Shire Council General Manager. "The introduction of the MLAK application form aligns with our ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and support the needs of all members of our community."
Residents and visitors who require access to facilities equipped with MLAK locks can now apply for a MLAK key through Council's website or by visiting Council’s Customer Service Centre, 33 Hyde St, Bellingen. The application process is straightforward and designed to facilitate quick access to these essential services.
