Restricted access at Dangar Falls: Important Safety Notice
Published on 25 October 2024
Please be advised that Dangar Falls will have restricted access and closures during a three-week period from Monday, 28 October to Monday, 18 November to accommodate a special filming event.
These activities will bring economic benefits to the area, however for the safety of visitors and crews, certain restrictions and full closures will be in effect throughout the filming period.
Key Dates:
Complete Closure: 6-9 November (4 days) and 15-16 November (2 days) – The falls, walking track, and viewing platform will be entirely closed to the public.
Restricted Access: On days outside the full closure periods, visitors can access the viewing platform and walking track, but entry to the water will remain restricted, and views of the falls may be partially obscured.
Why the Closure is Necessary?
The closure is required due to the nature of the filming activities taking place which involves specialised equipment, and increased personnel on site. These measures are in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Supporting the Local Economy
Council’s decision to permit these activities considered the benefit to the Dorrigo community including the increase in local economic activity. Council has worked closely with the organisers to minimise disruption and ensure safety remains the top priority.
Alternative Activities in the Area
We encourage visitors to explore the many other beautiful parts of the region during the periods when Dangar Falls is closed.
The Dorrigo National Park, Cascade National Park, and Mobong Creek are all great alternatives for visitors to the area. For more alternative attractions, head to the Visit Bellingen Shire website or stop by our tourist information centres.
Council appreciates the community's understanding and patience during this time. Digital road signs will be positioned on main roads, reminding the community and visitors of the closure dates, and the daily schedule provides insight to when the falls can be accessed, albeit restricted.
Thank you for your cooperation, and please stay safe if you’re near the area and be vigilant of the increased personnel in and around the area during this time.
